It’s Coming Home!

mount footy unit with 3 balls hanging on wall

It’s coming home! Well we hope so! Writing this the day after England’s superb 4-0 victory over Sweden in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022.

A stunning, totally inspirational performance from a group of women at the peak of their game.  A proper ‘team’ performance, with everyone pulling their weight, each tackle won or decision made contributing to the win.

On a joyful day for English football, I’m really happy to announce ‘Mount Footy’ – my new interiors product for footballers!

It’s a stylish hanging unit to display your footballs, with a picture frame or decoration on the top to allow you to personalise it.  Choose from (at the moment) these colours of supporting laces:

As an extra, you can order one of the special ‘women players’ cut-out decorations to use in the top rather than a photo-frame. More designs, colours and decorations will follow…

Let me know what you think, feedback is appreciated!  hello@mountfooty.co.uk

Celebrate your football triumphs – use a mount footy!

using the mount footy picture frame

Celebrate your football triumphs with a mount footy unit. Of course, you can just hang it up and put the balls in….

Or you can go to town and personalise it.  The unit comes with an empty frame which slots in the top so you can add a photo into it.

Ideas for which picture to use:

  • you in your kit with your winning medal / cup / certificate etc
  • your team photo
  • your favourite player in action
  • your team badge or stadium shot

How to use the Picture Frame

Choose a photo you have already had printed (4 x 6 inches works fine), or resize on a computer and print yourself, or cut one out of a magazine. To get the right shape use the photo frame circle, and score lightly or draw around the circle. In this way you can see how your photo will be cropped once it’s in the frame.  Then cut the circle out and place your photo between the blank circular wooden shape and the picture frame shape.  Put both pieces into the slot in the top shelf. You may need to cut your picture out as an ever slightly smaller circle, for it not to poke out the sides!

It could be a photo of your favourite player, or of the team you support.  Or you could make your own collage or illustration.

But the best thing is you can put your own photo in there, or your team, so you can celebrate your own ‘grass roots’ football achievements.

Shout about your #GloryDays

Here in the UK I think we are quite bad at blowing our own trumpets, and once we’ve played that final or scored that winning goal, we don’t shout about it in later years.  Keep reminding yourself by suspending a Mount Footy in your hall, kitchen, study or your home office, but make sure it’s in a corner or somewhere it won’t keep getting knocked!

Or even better, give a Mount Footy as a gift to someone who used to play and still loves the game – your mum, dad or even your grandparents. It could be a great way to get them to share their footballing stories & past successes.  Everyone loves to chat about their ‘glory days’.

Personal Football Histories

Cress, inventor of mount footy, playing for Arsenal Reserves

Personal Football Histories. Every player has one.

What was your role? It might have been short and sweet – a school triumph or junior ‘Goal of the Season’ – or it might span a couple of decades of amateur seasons.

You might be ‘just a player’ – or you might have gone on to coach, manage or referee.  How can you celebrate what you achieved, and keep reminding yourself of your accomplishments playing the beautiful game?

Celebrate your footballing achievements

A #mountfooty is not just for storing footballs. You could use a Mount Footy unit to attach team photos or other mementos from your footballing career.

Why not show off that photo of you with your winner’s medal or the end-of-season trophy for ‘Player’s Player’?

So don’t forget the good times, the best times and even the funny times (like when our ref decided to answer his mobile phone mid-match, or our dog ran onto the pitch dragging a milk churn).

Personal football histories – my footy life

One snippet of my footballing life.  The photo above shows me in the early 90s with team-mate Maggie, about to play for Arsenal Reserves.  As a lifelong Chelsea fan this was quite a difficult decision, hence my jaunty pose (“what am I doing in this kit??”)

How did it happen? I played for Islington Ladies WFC before the team was ‘invited to merge’ with the early aspirational Arsenal Womens team under Vic Akers.  I have happy memories of the first indoor training sessions in the JVC centre, and being sent out to run around the actual stadium pitch at the old Highbury stadium.  Arsenal was one of the first professional teams to take the women’s game seriously, and I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time.

Women’s Euros Official Football

Womens Euros 22 match ball

The Women’s Euros Official Football design in white, blue, pink and purple is eye-catching and bang on brand with the rest of the UEFA offering. A definite ‘football design’ classic that anyone would be proud to own.

It’s clearly most stylish since the Euros began, as I found out via this site: http://football-balls.com/balls/womens-euro-cup

I discovered this website when I looked up this year’s ball design.  The website is for serious football collector geeks and is full of photos of balls from all seasons, tournaments and leagues.

I only wish I had some of these to put in my Mount Footy for a few shots.

The official Nike Flight ball is about £120 so I’m not holding my breath 🙂
